When do the football leagues restart in 2026?

The 2026 European football calendar will undergo some changes due to the World Cup, which will lead to a shorter pre-season period. That said, the leagues themselves will not see any significant changes and will start during the month of August 2026.

When do the football leagues resume?

Serie A and Serie B 2026/27

Serie A 2026/27 will resume on the weekend of 23 August 2026 and will end on 30 May 2027. The calendar is expected to be released on 5 June 2026.

Serie B will restart on Saturday 22 August 2026, with possible early fixtures on Friday 21 August, and will conclude over the weekend between 14 and 16 May 2027.

Premier League 2026/27

The 2026/27 Premier League will begin on 22 August 2026 and end on 30 May 2027. The start has been set one week later than usual to ensure an adequate rest period after the 2026 World Cup final.

Bundesliga 2026/27

The 2026/27 Bundesliga will return over the weekend between 28 and 30 August 2026. The German league will then conclude on 22 May 2027, with a delayed start in this case as well to take into account commitments related to the World Cup.

Ligue 1 2026/27

The 2026/27 Ligue 1 season will resume on the weekend of 23 August 2026 and continue until 29 May 2027. No midweek league rounds are scheduled for this season.

LaLiga 2026/27

There is not yet a definitive official date for LaLiga 2026/27. The option supported by the Spanish league is to start on 14 August 2026, while the players’ association would prefer to postpone the start to the weekend of 22–23 August.
