Champions League Packages: When Will the Knockout Rounds Begin?

The league phase of the 2025/26 Champions League, which began on September 16, will continue until Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Subsequently, the knockout phase will begin.

Format of the 2025/26 Champions League Play-offs

The play-offs will take place on February 17–18 and February 24–25, 2026. The teams that finished from 9th to 24th position at the end of the league phase will participate (teams from 9th to 16th are seeded).

The pairings are predefined based on the team's position, according to the following order: 9/10 vs 23/24, 11/12 vs 21/22, 13/14 vs 19/20, 15/16 vs 17/18.

The match format includes a first leg and a second leg, with one home game for each team. The team with the greatest total number of goals will pass; in case of a tie, two extra times will be played and, if necessary, penalties (the away goals rule does not apply).

After the play-offs, the 8 winners join the top 8 from the league in the Round of 16.

The 2025/26 Champions League Knockout Phase, All Dates

The Round of 16 will take place on March 10–11 (first leg) and March 17–18, 2026 (second leg). This will be followed by the Quarter-finals, which will be held on April 7–8 (first leg) and April 14–15, 2026 (second leg).

The Semi-finals will take place in the same manner on April 28–29 (first leg) and May 5–6, 2026 (second leg).

Finally, the Final, a single match on a neutral ground, will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest.
